Everything Changes!

We have learnt from our initial route experience and fine tuned things. Unfortunately after we standardised on an 09.30 start, Western Greyhound had to change their timings and one of their precious daily runs also leaves Gorran Haven at 9.30 every morning which with only 4 journeys each day is a bit of a waste. Perhaps with a bit of luck we will be able to arrange a better use of these precious schedules.

G1 Gorran -- Mevagissey--St.Austell.
This service got off the ground very slowly and we did wonder whether it would ever be really successful but we need not have worried, It now averages about 80% full loads and is a great success.  We have now changed the Wednesday timings to leave Gorran at 9.30 instead of 10.00 giving a standard  departure time from the Car park every weekday except Monday. All services go via Mevagissey in both directions helping people with Surgery appointments and has greatly improved our usage by Mevagissey residents. The slightly earlier  !2.15 return on Wednesdays suits peoples lunch times better too while the Friday service is the same timetable except the return runs one hour earlier than on Wenesdays giving a long and a  short trip each week. A free  town/supermarkets transfer service has also been introduced at just after 11.00 but do tell the driver if you wish to use it as it is demand responsive--not timetabled.

G2 Gorran  Mevagissey Trago
Initially very popular this service steadily lost support so we discontinued it. However--run as a bi-monthly excursion it has become a regular and popular trip even though Cornish Concession Cards no longer apply to this route.

G3 Gorran--Mevagissey--Polgooth--Truro
Tragos loss was  Truros gain as it freed up Tuesdays for an extra service to Truro when First gave up their Mevagissey--Truro Wednesday service. Tregony produced very few but loyal passengers so regretfully we re-routed this service via Polgooth and Grampound with great success. Tuesdays starts back at 12.15 compared with 3.00 on Thursdays offering a choice each week of a longer or shorter visit. This service now loads so heavily that booking is very advisable to be sure of a place but we have also added an afternoon service leaving Gorran at 1.45.

People are slow to try the afternoon option but once they do many find that they prefer it and become regulars and help us to spread the load.
It leaves Truro at 4.15 getting back to Gorran about 5.00.

G4 Gorran--Mevagissey--St Austell--Plymouth
Since changing from Saturday to 3rd Monday of the month the loadings have increased a lot, so much so that we now run a relief on the preceding Saturday when demand justifies it. However this is difficult to judge so do make a point of letting us know if you would like to go on the Saturday run if it  goes.  Booking is almost essential on this service.

Excursions
Mondays is excursion day for sight seeing, mystery trips with a lunch,  and any number of interesting visits throughout Devon and Cornwall. Theatre trips are growing in popularity too and arranged for us by the Friends of the Bus. These are great fun but very hard work to organise so please help by telling us what you would like to do/see.
