Basically, if you use it - it will stay around. Leave it to other people to use and it may not be there when you need it. The choice is yours
Scheduled Services. You can spot these because they have a destination display with a G number. These are bus services just like those operated by First, Western Greyhound, Truronian and so on. If you want to get on hail the bus and if there is room, show your Cornish Concession Card or pay the fare and off you go.
G1 goes to St.Austell, G3 goes to Truro and G4 to Plymouth via St Austell All services go to Heligan Gardens and Mevagissey
Remember our bus only holds 16 people at time--you can see why in the picture above, but it does mean that it can pick people up at their door within the parishes of St Goran and St.Ewe for a small extra charge.
Because there is limited accommodation it is always wise to reserve a seat which is free but please always let us know (01726 844497) if you find later that you can not go or someone else may get turned away even though there is a spare seat.
Remember, it is a bus service and this means we have to comply with very strict rules on route and time or lose our licence. We cannot wait for you if you are late even though we know you intended to travel.
Excursions These are a bit different and run under a different permit. They are not bus stage services and you must reserve a place in advance. The cost is the same wherever you board. You do not have to come back but the ticket costs the same whether you do or not but please do as we would like to take you somewhere else another day! Excursions may or may not have a destination showing but never have a G number. Home collection is free in most places on excursions but Cornish Concession cards are not valid. This takes time, so please only use it if you cannot get to the routes nearest point through ill health or a degree of disability.
Hire the Bus with a Driver You can hire the bus for about 50p per mile (minimum charges and time standing idle can vary this a bit) You pay the driver direct £5--£7.50 per hour is the usual rate; we can give you a list of qualified people willing to be approached. To hire the bus you must be an affinity group. Typically this would be a cricket club, the W.I, a family, a recognised darts team. An informal group of individuals going on an ad hoc trip round the pubs would not qualify
Hire the Bus without a Driver Your own driver must be MIDAS passed which we can arrange. You would normally be an affinity group and part of the Community for which this Community Bus has been provided. Rates are very competitive for local organisations but please plan ahead-- we cannot test a new driver in 5 minutes.
Run your own Bus Service Hire the bus to run a regular service for a local group or club; a co-operative of local parents for a school run perhaps. We will help you arrange the necessary permits and registrations.
Special Outings We can lay on an excursion to help you organise your own outing. Theatre Trips, Antique Fairs, Mystery Tours and so on. Affinity groups are far more likely to get the details of a particular activity right whereas we have to guess what people would like to do. It is a strange fact of life that people are so grateful for what we do organise that they are very loath to make suggestions in case we think they are criticising! We need feedback and welcome comments and suggestions!
